Event Description: Acquired by the ARC in 2010, Wakamatsu offers splendid historical touring, fun programs for learning, fertile ground for digging, loose boards for nailing, and fence posts for socializing. This historical farm is the site of the first Japanese settlers in America, resting place of the first Japanese woman immigrant buried in America, and birthplace of the first Japanese-American child. As a working historical farm, the land is leased to two farm enterprises. The ARC maintains a giving garden, orchard, and native plant nursery. Around the large pond, a wheelchair accessible trail is available for outdoor fun, school programs, and lovers of nature. The gorgeous landscape is a living work of art that attracts creative minds. The possibilities at Wakamatsu are as endless as volunteers’ imaginations. For those who are seriously committed and will promise to donate a little regular time, ARC will host an orientation on Saturday, November 19 from 10:00 until 5:00.
