Event Description: The Serrano Country Club’s Salute to Valor Committee has joined with Friends of the El Dorado County Veterans Monument to organize a major golf tournament benefitting local military veterans on Aug. 3 at the Serrano Country Club in El Dorado Hills. Proceeds will go directly to El Dorado County veterans care programs, such as: veterans hospice, the Veterans Educational Resource Center at Folsom Lake College, and K-9 comfort dogs for PTS-affected veterans. Tournament events include attendance by Legion of Valor members who have earned the nation’s highest medals for valor in combat, a flyover by restored WWII Warbirds, displays of military vehicles and aircraft, displays of war memorabilia including medals of valor and U.S. Army campaign ribbons recognizing battles from the Revolutionary War to the Gulf War, and a demonstration of long-ball driving at the 16th tee by a world champion long-ball player.“Salute to Valor is open to all golfers with an entry fee of $200, including golf, lunch, a reception and dinner. Dinner only can also be purchased for $50 a person. Directions:
From Sacramento – take Interstate 80 East, then merge onto Hwy 50 East (toward Placerville/Lake Tahoe). Exit at El Dorado Hills Blvd. (Exit 30B) – Turn Right and go under freeway. Stay in right-hand lane while going through three signals. You will then come to a signal that will be Serrano Parkway to the right. Turn right and stay on Serrano Parkway for approximately 2-1/2 miles. After you go straight thru your first stop sign (Terracina) the next left hand turn will be Greenview – turn left and tell the guard at the gate you are going to the Club.
