Event Description: Kites – Food – Drink – Raffle – Fun This celebration honors the 148th anniversary of the first Japanese colony in America who arrived at Gold Hill on June 8, 1869. American River Conservancy (ARC) honors these early pioneers during our regular Wakamatsu Open Farm Day on Saturday, June 3. ARC is offering a kite festival, including food and beer for purchase, a raffle, and light entertainment. Bring your own single-lined kite or make a kite to fly at Wakamatsu Farm. Picnics are welcome, and bring along a chair. Amenities at Wakamatsu Farm are limited. Proceeds from this event will be used to care for the historic Keyaki tree planted by the Wakamatsu colonists. $10 per car, additional for passenger vans and busses.
