Event Description: Marshall Gold Discovery State Historic Park in Coloma invites the public to experience California’s rich Gold Rush history at Coloma Gold Rush Live 2019. Join park staff and docents on October 12-13 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in a recreation of a gold rush era tent town of 1850. Hear the tales of adventurers, gold seekers, and charlatans who came to California to make their fortunes! Explore our re-creation of an 1850 tent town and visit an assay office, gambling hall, general store, blacksmith, carpentry shop, laundry, bakery, children's games, gold panning and more! Don't forget to visit the mining camp along the South Fork of the American River. At Coloma Gold Rush Live, visitors will be taken back to the past to hear fantastic tall tales about incredible journeys, discoveries, and disappointments. You'll be able to register your claim at the Assay/Claims Office, procure supplies at the General Store, or find a place to bunk down and eat at the Boarding House. If you've just come in from the mines, head on over to the Barber/Bath House to clean up, then pick up a fresh shirt at the Laundry before heading over to the Saloon. Don't forget to visit the doctor, blacksmith, and surveyor while in town. But, remember to take all you hear with a grain of salt, as tall tales will abound. Coloma Gold Rush Live is made possible thanks to our partnership with the Gold Discovery Park Association. Admission to the event is free, but parking is $10 per vehicle.
