Event Description: Art of Cigars and Savas Beatie are proud to invite you . . . to join Nick Popaditch aka “The Cigar Marine” for a FREE special event honoring our military men and women! FREE EVENT • MUSIC • DRINKS • APPETIZERS • CIGARS In recognition of the Marine Corps Birthday and Veteran's Day, Nick will be launching a line of premium, hand rolled cigars in conjunction with Art of Cigars. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Semper Fi Fund, an organization close to Nick's heart. Nick hopes to raise significant funds for his fellow wounded combat veterans and their families. The Semper Fi Fund is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit set up to provide immediate financial support for injured and critically ill members of the U.S. Armed Forces and their families. DONATIONS GREATLY APPRECIATED ABOUT NICK POPADITCH Nick Popaditch was forever immortalized as “The Cigar Marine” after AP photographer Laurent Rebours captured him smoking in the turret of his battle tank just before Saddam’s iconic statue was pulled down in Firdos Square on April 9, 2003. The image appeared on the front pages of newspapers around the world. Nick is a medically retired United States Marine Corps Gunnery Sergeant and recipient of the Silver Star and Purple Heart. He was severely wounded in action during the First Battle of Fallujah in 2004, when he was struck in the head by an enemy rocket propelled grenade (RPG). He lost his right eye and his remaining eye was severely damaged, leaving him legally blind and partially deaf in his right ear. Nick is a highly sought-after speaker and a 2012 candidate for California’s 53rd congressional district. Nick’s book Once a Marine: An Iraq War Tank Commander's Inspirational Memoir of Combat, Courage, and Recovery (Savas Beatie LLC, 2008), has been added to the Sergeant Major of the Marine Corps’ Reading List, is the Winner of the 2009 Military-Writers Book of the Year, and was a Finalist for Autobiography/Memoirs 2009 Indie Book Awards. Nick’s latest release is The Ultimate Marine Recruit Training Guidebook: A Drill Instructor’s Strategies and Tactics for Success (Savas Beatie LLC, 2012).
