Event Description: It was 1984 when Fair Play’s first three wineries thought of coordinating the dates and publicity for their annual open house celebrations and held the first Fair Play Wine Festival. The Fair Play Wine Festival holds the honor of the oldest ongoing winery association event in all the Sierra Foothills, and at the time it started it was unique in having Festival goers visit each participating winery. The fans of Fair Play wines couldn’t help but bring their friends, fueling the success of the Fair Play Wine Festival for two decades. What started with three wineries has grown and grown, every year delivering good times and great wines to thousands of supportive fans. The dynamics of the Festival have changed greatly over the years but the format has changed little. The Festival has become very successful but the quality of the experience has not declined. The Festival is wonderfully informal, with most of the Fair Play wineries choosing to welcome you with exciting special events during the traditional first weekend in June. Participating Wineries Busby Cellars Chateau Routon Winery Chateau Routon has a fun filled time planned for you, where you can relax and enjoy our beautiful view from the Grand Deck. We will be serving delectable desserts throughout the day, including “strawberry delight”, decadent chocolate cake”, wonderful truffles and, of course, our “famous port sundaes” – made with Chateau Routon port. Relax on the deck while listening to the pleasant sounds of one of our favorite entertainers — Rachel Cargil. Enter our tasting room, where you will find beautiful jewelry, paintings and photographs – and special Festival prices on our award winning wines and ports. Colibri Ridge Winery & Vineyard DK Cellars DK Cellars will be featuring gourmet foods by Gold Vine Grill that Chef Greg has paired specifically with our wines. Relax in the back yard picnic area with a bottle of wine and listen to live music provided by Ollie’s Lament, inspired by rock, jazz, blues, and a little good-old, down-home, foot-stomping groove. Dave, the winemaker will be available to answer any questions and tell you about our new releases. Special wine discounts will be available that weekend Fitzpatrick Winery & Lodge Our new Zinfandel is stellar and Zin lovers will not want to miss this near perfect Fitzpatrick Zinfandel vintage. It’s a hard act to follow but tasting our other new releases is believing, uncork the magic of Fitzpatrick’s new wines, take in the stunning hilltop views. Enjoy the dynamic folk duo Anderson/Gram and nourish thyself with our Winetasters menu and other delicacies. Gwinllan Estate Iverson Vineyards & Winery At Iverson, you will be enjoying “D’s” famous Chili and Fixin’s, along with our premium award winning wines. You won’t want to miss out on our wine specials we will be featuring during the Festival either, like our popular Proprietor’s Blend. Along with our 3 White wines, 8 Red wines and 2 Tawny Ports to choose from, we also have our 4 Champagnes, Sparkling, Pomegranate Raspberry and Almond. Mastroserio Winery Mellowood Vineyards SUNDAY ONLY, Join Vintner, Linda Neal, and friends, for a party! “Flat Busted” will be playing country and rock favorites, with their engaging and entertaining style from 12 to 4. Mount Aukum Winery Adventure to the top to Mount Aukum Winery, for assortment authentic French hors d’oeuvre prepared by Gourmet Chef Christian Masse owner of local restaurant Allez. Show off your fancy footwork with live Rock N Roll Band The Nobs, or come relax in our patio with panoramic sweeping views of the countryside, enjoy barrel tasting, award winning wines, and case specials. Perry Creek Winery Saluti Cellars Sierra Oaks Estates Sierra Oaks Estates will be serving Chef Janet’s cowboy chili with all the toppings. Pair that yummy chili with any of Jim’s award winning wines such as Zinzabar, Reserve Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, Zinfandel and many more, and top that off with our multi gold medal winning Late Harvest Petite Sirah. Jim and Toshi are retiring this year and for the Fair Play Festival all wines will be on sale at $96 per case while they last. Come take advantage of this great close out sale.
