We are a non-profit organization/club at Oak Ridge High School, striving to provide academic materials for students in need all over the world. Any school supplies that are new or barely used would be greatly appreciated. We are also collecting baby supplies, such as diapers and sundries, so any items that are baby-related and new would also be appreciated for our outreach.

Japanese/USA Youth Summits 10/7/2019 - 6/30/2020

El Dorado County Chapter of People to People International is sponsoring two youth summits in the years 2020 & 2022. Next summer, July 25-August 2, 2020 we will host 15 Japanese youths from our Sister City of Warabi, Japan. We are looking for youths, ages 13-17, to participate in the summit and to host a Japanese youth during the summit. The only cost for participants other than hosting (providing meals and accommodations) is that one member of the family needs to join our chapter of People to People - $40/year. Then in the summer of 2022, we will send 15-20 youths to Warabi, Japan who will be hosted by Japanese families and participate in exciting activities. Experience a unique culture! As the economic pause caused by coronavirus endures, businesses are racing to understand and access the $350 billion in loans provided by the CARES Act to help impacted small businesses. Emergency loans are newly available to sole proprietors, and new guidance accompanies this relief. Estimates indicate the total amount of aid isn’t enough to address current needs, and Congress is considering extending more funds to small businesses.

This Friday, April 10 at noon ET, Inc. and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce will team up for a third virtual National Small Business Town Hall to help small business owners and sole proprietors alike navigate the programs that are available to them. Inc. Editor-At-Large Kimberly Weisul will moderate a discussion with the U.S. Chamber’s Executive Vice President and Chief Policy Officer Neil Bradley to lay out the new guidance for sole proprietors, address the steps all impacted businesses should take to tap into available resources, and discuss the potential for more aid in the future.

A panel of business experts will join them to questions from business owners of all sizes, and to offer counsel to anyone attempting to access the loans the CARES Act provides.

Are you a Member of our Chamber and/or a small business constituent in El Dorado County with questions about best course of action in response to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) crisis?

As a result of a meeting on April 6th with the Greater Sacramento Economic Council (GSEC), El Dorado County, and El Dorado County Chamber, the El Dorado Hills Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce a Small Business Guidance Webinar. We shared some of the concerns and confusion that we are hearing from you, and GSEC offered this as a solution.

This webinar, with El Dorado County CAO Don Ashton and Supervisor John Hidahl, will include Board Leaders from GSEC to directly answer your questions. The primary goal of this program is not to go over program summaries, but to answer and address some of the more technical questions we are hearing from small businesses:

Should I really take on debt now?

Do I furlough or lay off employees; what are the pros and cons?
If I know my business will not survive, what steps can I take now to shut it down with minimal issues in the future?

What documents do I need to have in hand and ready before I apply for a loan or PPP?

Our Chamber has shared two questions to be answered that you have asked us:

Which banks are accepting non-customers to process PPP loans?

Is a hardship criteria for the PPP loan to be forgiven?

Please send us additional questions you'd like addressed during the webinar by the GSEC Board and Economic Development Directors.

The Greater Sacramento Economic Council is launching a free interactive tool to help businesses large and small through this economic downturn. GSEC is offering an online tool, SizeUp, which provides custom market research and data to empower companies to make strategic and data-driven decisions on their next move. This will assist businesses that are struggling or those that have closed, have access to hyperlocal information to help them get back to work.

El Dorado Hills Town Center, with the help of Coldwell Banker, El Dorado Hills Chamber of Commerce, and local volunteers, will be hosting a Fund/Food Drive for the local Food Bank of El Dorado County. We will be collecting non-perishable food and monetary donations. Because of COVID-19, the need in our county is great.

Monetary donations are preferred. For every $1 donated, the Food Bank can buy $20 worth of groceries.

This event will take place on Saturday April 25, 2020. The drive through food drive will be in the Target parking lot closest to the lake. We will be collecting donations from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. Thank you for your support in helping to feed our neighbors. Stay in your car, pop the trunk, and we will do the rest.
