Get the help you need with Marshall Medical Center’s seven weeks to smoke-free success. Using American Lung Association Freedom from Smoking certified facilitators and principles, this program focuses on helping tobacco users gain control and break their addiction. This is a seven week class series, meeting once a week on Tuesdays from 5:30-7:30 pm in Placerville. An additional class is held Thursday from 5:30-7:30pm on the 4th week of the series. There is no charge for this class.

Come check out a full weekend of over 50 vendors including incredible van builds, open house vans, vans, and more vans! The expo is open to all ages and in addition to the vans you can find food, local brews, live music and more. PLUS this year we are adding camping to our Placerville show. Show entry tickets, camping tickets, DYI contest tickets and others can all be purchased online now! The Expo will run on Saturday, June 4 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and on Sunday, June 5 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and feature open house vans, accessories, vendors, custom builds and a variety of rigs beyond vans including roof top tents, trailer tents and cargo trailers. Those looking to spend the weekend at Adventure Van Expo can roll in starting Friday evening at 4 p.m. to enjoy live music by PipeDown. It is the perfect space to hang out with other van owners and connect with the van life community throughout the two-day event. Put on in partnership with host sponsor Mercedes-Benz Rocklin the Placerville show features title sponsors Storyteller Overland, National Indoor RV Centers, RRE Ultimate Overland Vehicles, Van Parts Warehouse, TouRig and Timberline. Expo tickets can be purchased in advance by visiting Adventure Van Expo’s website and include a $20 entry fee for both days for ages 19+, $90 for camping (limited tickets available), $90 for the DYI Contest (includes camping) and a dog pass for $10. Entry is free for ages 18 and younger. Adventure Tip: Camping tickets will sell out. Purchase in advance to guarantee you're hanging out all weekend.

Assistance League Sierra Foothills Gardens of the Hills Tour This popular tour highlights superb private gardens in all their seasonal splendor. Discover the variety of plants and blooms and how each unique garden became the creation of their owner’s passion. There is plenty of inspiration to go around and lots of take-home ideas. Some tour highlights are the 90-rose bush, the drought resistant, and the state-of-the-art integrated vegetable and fruit gardens. Enjoy the soothing sounds of water from stellar fountains and see how repurposed family heirlooms add beauty and memories to a garden. Feel the tranquility as you walk through a stand of redwood trees. Visit the Sherwood Demonstration Garden with its 16-unique gardens. Other event features provide guests a splendid sampling of our local wines, pop-up boutiques with a variety of local artisans’ wares, our signature raffle (always a big hit!), an online auction with fabulous quality items, and food for purchase. There will even be music for part of the time both days. There will be family fun as well; find Nutmeg the squirrel at each garden and enter a special raffle. World-renowned fingerstyle guitarist Richard Smith’s ever growing repertoire comprises a wide variety of music from classical Bach to Beatles pop. It includes Scott Joplin Rags just like Sousa marches, Chopin, Mozart and fiddle tunes. It ranges from jazz standards to Chet Atkins and Jerry Reed and to Django Reinhardt gypsy swing, not to mention his intriguing originals. He delivers both, lightning fast barn-burners and beautiful ballads, occasionally spiced with vocals. His incredible stylistic wealth is founded in a lifelong love for music. Born in Beckenham, Kent, England in 1971, Richard started playing guitar at age 5 under the instruction of his father. Concentrating initially on the country picking of Chet Atkins and Merle Travis, young Richard digested everything he heard, learning even the most complicated of these tunes with ease, and confounding everyone with his dexterity. It seemed that not only did he possess amazing physical skill, but a photographic musical memory as well. Often, a single hearing was all it took to get a piece under his fingers, using all ten to play bass, rhythm and melody simultaneously and creating a universe of sounds, while easily switching between thumbpicking and flatpicking like hardly anybody else. Richard first met his hero, the Godfather of fingerstyle guitar, Chet Atkins, when he was only eleven. Richard was invited by Chet to share the stage with him at Her Majesty’s Theatre in London in front of an audience of 1,000. At first, the master accompanied him, but later on he just listened in stunned silence while the child played Chet’s own arrangements perfectly. By the time Richard reached his early twenties, both Chet Atkins and Jerry Reed began to refer to him as their hero. It’s no surprise, that the hymns of praise subsequently never faded. Now residing in Nashville, Richard has toured the world as a solo artist, teaming up with his wife Julie Adams for a unique guitar and cello duo, performing with his brothers Rob and Sam as the Richard Smith Guitar Trio and with his swing band, The Hot Club of Nashville, featuring Stuart Duncan on fiddle, Pat Bergeson on guitar and Charlie Chadwick on bass. Fellow guitar wizard Tommy Emmanuel prefers Richard Smith as one of his favourite duet partners. In 2001, Richard became the National Fingerstyle Guitar Champion in Winfield, Kansas. He was elected Thumbpicker of the Year in 2008 and inducted into the National Thumbpickers Hall of Fame in Kentucky in 2009. He is also a recipient of the Golden Thumbpick Award by the Association of Fingerstyle Guitarists in California. Richard has been a mainstay at the Chet Atkins Appreciation Society Convention in Nashville since 1991, where he has played with many world renowned artists including Nato Lima of Los Indios Tabajaras, sax legend Boots Randolph and John Jorgenson of Desert Rose Band and Elton John Band fame. He has also performed with other great musicians such as Marcel Dadi, Tommy Tedesco, Thom Bresh, Joe Pass, Bir?li Lagr?ne, Bryan Sutton, Les Paul, Mark O’Connor, Sam Bush, Martin Taylor, Jorge Morel, Suzy Bogguss, Muriel Anderson, Guy Van Duser, B?la Fleck, Victor Wooten, Tony McManus and Buster B. Jones and shared the bill with a host of others, most notably Steve Morse, Albert Lee, Paco Pe_a, Barney Kessel, David Russell and Johnny Hiland. The award winning historic Sutter Creek Theatre is an intimate 215 seat former silent film theatre with superb sound. Voted Best Indie Theatre multiple times (KCRA A-List).
